UTAH JAZZ GREAT INVITED TO SPEAK AT UTAH STATE UNIVERSITY

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State University (USU) welcomes former NBA star, Jeff Hornacek, to speak about his basketball career on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011.

The event begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Taggart Student Center (TSC) Ballroom. Following his speech, Hornacek will answer questions and participate in a three-point shootout against Utah State men’s basketball player, Brian Green.

Tom Atwood, programming vice president for USU's Executive Council, said, “We wanted to get a sports figure, people know and recognize, to come during the heart of basketball season.  Jeff Hornacek was the perfect fit.”

Hornacek’s appearance is part of USU’s Art and Lecture Series.  The event will take place during USU’s HURD Week.

Hornacek played in the NBA from 1986 to 2000. Midway through his 1993–94 basketball season, Hornacek was traded to the Utah Jazz. Hornacek played as the Utah Jazz shooting guard alongside Karl Malone and John Stockton. He was instrumental in driving the Jazz to the 1997 and 1998 NBA Finals. He remained with the Jazz until knee problems forced his retirement in 2000.  Hornacek was known as one of the best three-point shooters in his league and won the NBA three-point competition twice.
