Final Position Paper

Burger Planet

87 N. Burger Way / Gary, IN 46401

Supports Healthy, Active Lifestyles

As a company, Burger Planet, supports its customers in choosing to be healthier by eating Burger Planet’s healthy menu options. According to an article published on Ezine Articles, The growing trend in living green is that people want healthy fast food chains.” In recent years, fast food chains all over the country have added healthier food options to their menus to accommodate their consumer’s needs. Burger Planet’s team has recently added gourmet salads, fruit packages, white meat chicken breasts, and “bunless” burger options to become a healthy fast food chain.

Burger Planet’s goal is to have people of all ages eat Burger Planet food but is concerned that women ages 30 to 40 have stopped eating it. According to a study conducted by the American Journal of Public Health, higher income women ages 35 to 40 are less likely to eat fast food than men because of their concern for health. This group of women are only eating about 1.5 fast food meals per week. These women are concerned that they will gain excess weight by eating fast food, which does happen in some cases. However, Burger Planet is hiring fitness guru, Jayne Petersen, who emphasizes moderation, as their spokesperson. Petersen says, “Women can have a burger and fries now and then as long as they are active and also try some of Burger Planet's exciting new menu choices, such as the fruit packages."

In February 2010, Burger Planet is going to issue a press release about its healthy menu options and the hire of Jayne Petersen, which will hopefully draw middle-aged women to Burger Planet. Burger Planet also wants to increase its revenues up ten percent by December 2010 after the campaign with Jayne Petersen has ended.
